PERSEPCTA draws its title from the Latin root of “perspective” and invites viewers to engage with how we see and are seen by our surroundings.
Four artists Kieran Davis, Jesse Harrison, Kaz Hughes and Jane Brennan bring their individual practices to bear on the themes of Land • Sea • River • Home.
Working across painting, sculpture and ceramics, the exhibition encourages a layered experience of the Gold Coast’s unique coastal environment its physical terrain, its shifting light, its waterscape, and the home we make within it.
Artists
Kieran Davis – Davis’ work often explores the layered edges of natural and cultural landscapes, mapping the tensions between memory, environment and identity.
Jesse Harrison – Harrison brings a sculptural sensibility imbued with fluidity and form, molding materials to evoke the interplay of sea-light, tides and the body.
Kaz Hughes – Hughes’ is an acrylic artist working from her Kirra studio. Gathering flowers, seeds & pods on coastal walks she recreates these into beautiful bold, wild bunches on canvas.
Jane Brennan – Brennan’s painting practice engages with notions of home and belonging, using atmospheric skies and silhouetted figures to suggest the emotional resonance of place.
